FAQ

How do I become a Squad member?

Be an Equestrian Victoria Member.

Complete the nomination form to apply.

Applications generally open around February each year. Check out the Equestrian Victoria Jumping Page and Facebook Page regularly for opening dates. If you meet the eligibility criteria, a panel of selectors will determine which squad you are best qualified for.

What is the membership level required for Squad?

You must be an Equestrian Victoria member and meet the minimum membership levels.

State Squad – Minimum Competitor Membership

Development Squads – Minimum Participant Membership

Squadettes – Minimum Participant Membership

Is there an attendance requirement for Squad riders?

Yes РSquad participants must attend at least three out of the five squad training weekends.

Are Squad riders required to sign an Athlete agreement?

Yes – Squad participants will have to sign an agreement with the terms and conditions of attending squad.

Can I bring an extra horse to a Squad training weekend?

Yes Рif scheduling allows, squad participants may bring a second horse at an additional charge. Any squad participant who plans to bring a second horse must notify the organising director prior to the squad timetable being released.

Do I have to attend Squad with the horse(s) that I have applied with?

You will be placed in different squad groups based off the combination performance on the application. Riders must indicate on the application if they will be attending majority of the squad on a different horse and must stipulate the height currently jumping on the application.

We do recognise that uncontrollable circumstances can happen and groups may need to be adjusted.

What type of performances do I have to have to apply for Squad?

Depending on which Squad you are aiming to be accepted into, your performances will differ. As the State Squad is aimed at highly competitive individuals, performances may include those attained at State and National EA Competitions (e.g Aus Champs, SA, VIC and NSW State Champs, Royal Shows).

For those looking to enter the development squads, results may include those attained at EA offical Jumping shows (e.g. Boneo shows, Jump Club shows, Ag Shows), Interschool events (including State and National Champs), and PCV events.

We understand that sometimes clear rounds may not receive a place, for this reason we have also included a section in our application form for riders to stipulate their best performance as well as clear rounds achieved in competitions.

Will my instructor be the same each time?

Yes, the idea is to provide regular instruction so that the coaches become familiar with the combinations to help develop and enhance their partnership. Occasionally, guest coaches may be required due to uncontrollable circumstances but you will be notified before the squad training weekend.

How do I book stables and camping for Squad?

All stables and camping bookings are to be done through WPNEC at least 48 hours prior to the commencement of squad. Make sure to mention you are a squad member on squad training day bookings to get specially priced deals.
